Bernardo de Galvez Chapter # 1
March 2011 Meeting Minutes

The March meeting was called to order by Secretary Bill Whatley.

Bill Whatley led the pledges to (US, TX, SAR) flags. Gordon Robinson was asked to do the invocation. After the pledges and invocation the meeting was turned over to our chapter President Pete Lenes.
 
New Business:

Pete Lenes made the introductions of members and guests. There were ten chapter members and one prospective chapter member, three visiting SAR members, one SAR Auxiliary member, and one presenter.
 
Pete Lenes provided information on accumulated points for Stark Report and President Report.

Five SAR Color Guards were asked to present the colors for the opening of the Home and Garden Show at the Galveston Convention Center. Our chapter was also represented by having a booth.

Presentations:

Pete Lenes presented a Certificate of Appreciation to our presenter Irma Ortiz. Irma gave a very good presentation on OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute). She identified all the courses that are available to seniors at a very nominal fee.
    
Committee Reports:

Ron Whatley reported that our chapter would be participating in the July 4th parade in Galveston. He implied the replica of the Liberty Bell would be part of these activities.
Ron informed the membership that we needed to put down a deposit at Tremont Hotel to get the larger room for our December meeting and for a gathering place for Dickens on the Strand Parade
